History
Prysmian Cables and Systems Oy was born in October
2005, following the change of name of the group from Pirelli to Prysmian after the acquisition from
Goldman Sachs Capital Partners in July 2005.
From that point until today, going through the listing of the company into the Milan stock
exchange in 2007, it has been a success story.
But this story started much earlier than that.
Indeed the now Finnish affiliate of an Italian multinational group started its operations in
1912 under the name of Finnish Braiding Factory. From there on the company has been a key player in
the development of the electrical and telecommunication networks in Finland, the Nordics, Europe
and worldwide.
In 1966 it changes the name to Nokia Cables, and this name is kept until 1996, during which
a number of acquisitions are performed around Europe, when it becomes part of the NKF Group.
The Energy Power Cables business is then sold to Pirelli Cables in 2000, and from there on
the integration in the Group has continued to develop, increasing the value proposition that
Prysmian Cables and Systems Oy can today bring to their customers, in Finland and abroad.
